Background
The Woodhill Choice Neighborhoods Implementation is centered around the demolition of the existing Woodhill Homes estate and construction of 638 new units in the target neighborhood. These new units will provide affordable,
high-quality rental housing for residents with a range of incomes. However, a critical element of the plan is the transformation of the broader neighborhood. One vehicle for the neighborhood transformation are the Critical Community Improvement (CCI) projects. The need for these projects was identified by residents during the planning phase and built into the Choice application. Among the projects, community members identified the need to improve the existing housing stock in the broader target area.
The home repair CCI was born out of that need. At its core, the CCI project is a collaboration between the City of Cleveland and Burten Bell Carr (BBC) with support from other local partners.
Goal
The goal of this CCI is to create a simplified, single application for home repair projects in the Woodhill target area; to support residents in obtaining clear title so they qualify for repairs; to streamline the application process and support residents in getting the work done in a timely manner; and to increase the value of residents’ homes and the overall beautification of the neighborhood.
